Wilton Class :)

In November I had the opportunity to take a Wilton Cake Decorating class. IT WAS AWESOME! We met on Tuesday evenings for a couple of hours. I went into the class not even really knowing how to hold decorating bag, and by the last class I was making the signature "Wilton Rose". We made 3 cakes, a rainbow one, a clown one, and rose one. I can't wait til my schedule clears up a little and I can take another class! I have to hunt down a picture of the clown cake, but here are pics of the other 2!

HoCo Popo

So there are many benefits to dating Sean, but I think I have found my favorite and probably the most useful so far. Speeding tickets.

Sean is a police officer and so over the past couple of months I've had the opportunity to meet and get to know many of his coworkers, sergeants, and lieutenants. On my way home from Sean's house Monday night, I'm driving along, talking on the phone with him (you're allowed to TALK on the phone, just not text!), when I see a cop pull out. Now for some reason I think I got the impression that just because I'm dating a police officer, I'm invincible, so naturally I thought this cop was going past me to a call. So I pulled over to another lane to let him pass. WRONG! He got right behind me and I knew that he was pulling me over. I quickly said "Sean, Sean.. SEAN!!! I'M GETTING PULLED OVER!!" To which he replied "Chels, just tell them you're dating me" as I was hanging up with him. Part of me was thinking that it was one of Sean's roommates pulling me over as a joke, and the other part was praying that it was someone else that I knew.

Wrong again on both accounts. Enter Officer Stem. By the time he had walked up to my window I had my license and registration out and was shaking a little bit. He told me that he had pulled me over for speeding and what he had clocked me at (59 in a 45.. I know, I know...), and walked back to his car. Freaking out at this point knowing that I deserved a ticket, I called Sean's roommate Joe who I knew was working in the same area that I had just gotten pulled over. I told Joe that I had just gotten pulled over for speeding and asked him if he knew Officer Stem. He quickly said "I got you" and hung up. Next thing I know Officer Stem is walking back to my car, and leaning down to my window with a smile. He smacked me on the head with my license and registration and said, "Why didn't you tell me you were Sean's girl!?" He then gave me a lesson on how to bring up the fact that I'm dating a cop if/when I get pulled over again, and sent me on my way.

Aside from loving the fact that apparently I get out of tickets, I am so very thankful for the work that police do. I always kind of thought that policemen/women did a whole lot of nothing while they were working. Having been placed smack dab in the middle of a bunch of police officers lives the past couple of months, I have grown such an appreciation for the brave men and women that protect and serve our communities. They work long, hard hours, are responsible for memorizing more codes, numbers, laws, rules, than I can even count, are the first to respond to any issues, and in my opinion are often under appreciated. Law Enforcement Officers, I admire you, I thank you, and I respect you.

Thank you for not giving me a ticket Officer Stem. And Sean, thanks for loving me. :)

But I still think it's funny when I see a patrol car in front of a Dunkin Donuts.

I have a new obsession. I spend entirely too much time perusing this site.. but it's so good! I love it! And yes, I know I'm not a bride to be... yet. :)

Columbians.. Stay inside your houses! :)

So for my first post I figured I'd share a story that I find is too hilarious to not share. Sean is a police officer and on Saturday afternoon he received a call to go and check out an Animal Control Complaint. Normally these calls pertain to deer that need to be taken care of; this one however, was a bit different.

Sean arrived at the call and was greeted by the gentleman who had made the call; a polite, normal, sane, 40ish man. This man then begins to tell Sean about how while walking his dog he saw a mountain lion. That's right folks, in the heart of Columbia, MD, a mountain lion. (For those of you who don't know, Columbia is pretty much the opposite of wilderness or a mountain lion habitat.) He continued to say, "Well I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but I'm not, I have seen tons of deer before and this was definitely not a deer. It was a mountain lion." He also told Sean that he had drawn a sketch of what the mountain lion looked like so the police could have a visual of it. I would have lost control with laughter when he first said there was a mountain lion, but somehow Sean kept his cool until the bitter end. Now remember, this is normal, 40 something year old, completely sane man. Yep.

So the moral of the story is, watch out for those mountain lions in central Maryland.
